The Archdiocese of Indianapolis is seeking a full-time Assistant Controller at their downtown Indianapolis office.
The Assistant Controller drives the monthly financial close process to ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial information to key decision-makers within the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. The Assistant Controller is responsible for oversight & ownership of daily treasury management functions, as well as ownership of accounting processes related to various agencies, self-funded insurance plans, and intercompany payables. The Assistant Controller will work extensively in Sage Intacct and will need to be able to work with non-accounting users to help monitor and analyze spending through custom reports and dashboards.
This position will supervise the Senior Accountant and Accounting/ Treasury Specialist.
The position of Assistant Controller is critical to streamlining processes across the organization, monitor data integrity for accurate and timely financial reporting
Drive monthly financial close process to ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial statements to key decision-makers within the organization
Possess a thorough understanding of the organization, general ledger structure, and processes within the department.
Supervision & Coaching of Senior Accountant and Accounting/ Treasury Specialist
Treasury Management functions include approving ACH’s, managing cash flows, bank reconciliations, and Archdiocesan Deposit & Loan Fund
Prepare or approve various entries and reconciliations, including timely research and resolution of reconciling items
Track monthly close status in close-management software and work with the accounting team to ensure stakeholders have access to relevant & timely financials
Identify and develop process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency.
Promote accountability and the meeting of deliverables
Coordinate and complete special projects

Education, Training & Experience
A bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting (Must have a thorough knowledge of GAAP)
CPA preferred, but not required
At least five years of accounting experience
Proficient with Microsoft Excel (demonstrated ability in working with pivot tables, v-lookups, and other similar functions)
Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus, but not required
Supervision experience preferred
