Daviess-Martin County REMC is currently searching for a Director of Finance and Accounting.  The co-op is located in Loogootee, IN and has approximately 7,000 members.

Candidates with experience in managing the finance and accounting department in an electric cooperative are preferred.  However, candidates with no supervisory experience, but at least five years of experience as an electric cooperative general accountant will be considered.  Experience in using the NISC IVUE system is highly preferred.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage the finance & accounting department of the cooperative.
2. Prepare or review monthly and/or annual journal entries, financial statements, tax filings, regulatory filings and accounting processes. Present financials to the Board monthly.
3. Prepare the annual budget and 10-year forecast. Present to the Board.
4. Implement and maintain internal controls, with the assistance of the outside auditor.
5. Maintain compliance with state, federal and local regulations and laws.
6. Ensure continuing development and engagement of yourself and your direct reports.
7. Assume supervisory responsibility for member services and human resources when experienced and competent at performing the first six responsibilities.
8. Begin working towards SHRM certification after taking over supervision of HR.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration preferred.
2. At least five years electric cooperative general accounting experience is required.
3. Knowledge of the NISC IVUE system is preferred. Microsoft office experience is required.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, accounting knowledge, math aptitude, decision-making skills, self-motivation, the ability to work well with others and to work with minimal supervision, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality are all required.

Full-Time Position

Starting Salary Range:  $80,000-$100,000, depending on experience level
