The Senior Accountant performs professional-level fiscal analyses, research, accounting, forecasting, and budget-related work involved with related financial and budgetary systems. In performing these tasks, the Senior Accountant is responsible to work independently, apply accounting principles and procedures while preparing accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures. The Senior Accountant reports to the Partner(s) responsible for the Fiscal Management Dept. and works closely with other Fiscal Management personnel. Periodic travel to client location is required. A hands-on approach to client relations with integrity and desire to work in a mission-driven environment. Periodic travel to client locations is required.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements and reports
Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
Prepare financial management reports
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
Develop and maintain financial databases
Financial audit preparation
Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
Analyze and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues
Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
Specialized knowledge of and experience with related computer applications
May require GAO “Yellow Book” training; Housing Choice Voucher Program or other specialized certification depending upon client needs
Ability to obtain a valid Indiana Driver’s License
Performs other related duties as required
Education and Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, taxation or financial advisory services
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Working knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles;
Working knowledge of auditing practices and principles;
Working knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations;
Above average Knowledge of and experience with related computer applications;
Must have the ability to obtain a valid Indiana Driver’s License
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is required
